Meet our Crew

Meet the team driving this dream…

Captain William Watt Jr

Born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama, Captain Watt’s journey to the helm was anything but ordinary. He began his career as a stockbroker — a path that left him restless and unfulfilled. One day, an ad in the local newspaper caught his eye: “Boat jobs available.” That single moment set him on a life-changing course from the trading stocks and bonds to the open water.

Now a seasoned mariner, Captain Watt, combines decades of boating experience with an explorer’s heart. Living with both Parkinson’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis, he is embarking on the legendary Great Loop — not just as a personal adventure, but as a mission to prove that determination can outpace limitation.

His voyage is about more than navigating waterways. It’s about inspiring others to face health challenges, advocating for accessibility in boating, and showing that with courage, preparation, and heart, the horizon is wide open to everyone.

Blue

Blue was born on May 11, 2017. Captain William purchased him to help him deal with a couple of significant losses in his life. Not only did Blue do that, but who would have guessed the amazing impact he has made on so many lives. Everyone that meets him LOVES HIM!

Blue loves the Water and enjoys being on boats. The Great Loop will be a wonderful adventure for Blue too!

First Mate Dr. Maryna du Plessis

Dr. Maryna born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, keen sailor, love the sea and racing sailing boats.

She is not just the First Mate, but the doctor, veterinarian, the cook, the housekeeper, the fitness instructor, the physiotherapist and various undecided positions.

Jack of all Trades, Master of some…

The Crew

Captain Watt is a very loved Captain, there is a group of international medical professionals that are working on his campaign, making sure all the medical requirements and support needed are in place for him.

There are a lot of well-wishers and supporters between his family and friends as well.

To isolate one at a time won’t do the SKELETON CREW any justice.
